My craft space

Here is my craft space I have been wanting to post pictures right when I moved but life happens and this is when I got around to it.

Here is the table my husband and I built together. We bought the top laminate piece from Home Depot and used old kitchen cabinets to hold it up. We went back and forth many time as to how to put it together, functionality etc. Below you can see my littlest one has claimed under the table as her club house.

This is where the sewing magic happens. I got this table from my dad and have hauled it with me for years and I am so happy I finally get to use it for my sewing. The bins below hold felt and odd and ends of fabric. The cabinet all the way on the left holds all my pretty fabric, I realize now I should have opened it.

My cutting tools, decorations from the kids.

My books, some embroidery thread, and my lovely metal box that holds all my buttons and misc.

This is my ironing table area. I used to do most of my creating here and have everything all over the counters but now that I have the table I have more space to lat out fabric.

On the other end of the garage, aka my craft room, is my husbands area. Just so you don't think I have all the room in this house taken up my husband does have a whole building to himself on one end of our property, we are just waiting for our landlord to put power out there.

Well thats it, my craft space. I see all these pictures of cute craft rooms and get so many ideas but I cant make it work in this space. I one day hope to move into the house and have one of the bedrooms for my space. As for now I am very blessed and fortunate to have this bit of space. I am also very, very blessed to have a husband who understands my creativity, and how therapeutic my crafts are for me. Thanks Babe!

Have a good day all!!

Whats for dinner? We are having homemade chicken strips, mashed potatoes and green beans.

Chubby Girls

I think most of you all know by now I purchase older patterns and sell them. It is fun and neat to see all the older styles of clothes. I came across one that made me a little upset to be honest, take a look.

Can you see what the fine print says???? (not suitable for chubby girls) WHAT THE HECK!!!!!!
First its a tent dress people, what a better way for a chubby girl to cover up. This company would so not be able to get away with this kind of thing today, I guess in 1967 you could get away with this. When I mentioned it to my sister she was shocked and said you have to blog about it, so here I am.
What do you all think? To see more of the patterns I have take a look at my shop click here.

Whats for dinner? We are having turkey tenderloin, rice and vegies.

Doll Speak

They are like the old song you hear on the radio that takes you back to those hot summer days when you've played hard all day, you can barely keep your eyes open to eat dinner and then you crawl into your nice cool sheets. Inside that bed is the soft friend with the crooked smile and button eyes who knows all your childhood secrets. You wrap you arm around your doll, telling her or him what you really think of brussel sprouts while drifting off to sleep.
That same doll sits on your bed everyday waiting for you to come home from school to hear about your day. You can love them, squeeze them, kiss them and in some cases pinch them if you must!

Before and After

Hello all, how are you today? While working a booth with my parents this last weekend, at a local flea market, my dad pulled this great little shelf out, here take a look...

I was eye balling it and kept thinking what could I do with it??? I guess my dad saw me and said all your buttons and little sewing things would sure look great in that don't ya think?  So before he could finish I said I will take it home and clean it up. My lovely hubs painted it for me too.

I need to make some labels I think, but not quite sure. I kind of like seeing through the little drawers.

So whats for dinner tonight? We might be having dollar menu if we go to a new flea market tonight. The kids are excited doing something on a school night.

Craft Fair Flop??????

Here we made a display for my sisters artwork. She got so much interest it was great.

here are the dolls I made and some last minute little monsters.
We both made some magnets from things we had around our houses.

I put out some of my felt food and dessert plates my hubs put together. I had one girl come back several times to look at the cherry pie so I sent it to her on Tuesday, I got the sweetest note from her yesterday.

My sister Violet (who doesn't craft much but helped us set up and brought us coffee) and the Artist of the family Creepymama.

Our set up, after a couple of hours I decided to move everything just because we were not getting kids looking at the beads.
And here are all the beads!!
After a hot two days and all the work we made enough to pay for the booth. Creepymama did get a deposit for a portrait WOOT WOOT. My mom of all people ordered a doll :] I wish I had gone into this more with the thinking that this would be a learning experience. So now I am glad we did it, I met fellow crafters, learned what I need to work on more and had fun hanging out with my sisters.
So I am off to get more things done!

What for dinner?? We are having chicken of some sort....

New doll???

My grandmother was a crafter from back in the day. She made pillows, stuffed animals, a variety of dolls she had a signature doll the Raggedy Ann dolls. Look at her business card from years ago...

So plain and simple I love it
I would spend so much time at her house when I was younger stuffing a variety of things and cleaning her house. She would always lose her afternoon cup of coffee, we would go on the hunt for it, half the time it was in the microwave.
She has been retired for a few years now. I however have had a life long dream to make my own Raggedy Ann doll. I decided to put a little twist on it...

Excuse the pictures I didn't want to go where the light was better. So this is Franken Ann... What do you think? I cant tell you the enormous amount of pride that I have, having made one all by myself. I did have my hubs get mine down after I was done to see how my grandma did the hair, that was frustrating. :{ So now I am working on a Zombie Ann. You will soon see her!!
Have a great day all!

Whats for dinner?
We are having BBQ Beef sandwiches yum!

A letter to my daughter

So yesterday my 17 year old daughter asked if I would write a letter to put in a time capsule sort of thingy at school and she will open it at the end of the year. I said sure not realizing how many emotions this would trigger. I have raised a human and I'm letting her go. You need to see a picture I took of her when we went camping (which she hates).

She is the comic relief of our house. She is a free spirit and has a contagious happiness about her.

My dearest Mary,
On May 13, 1994 I started a journey with you in tow. You were such a great baby always calm, quiet and flowed with what ever was going on. When you started school I think I was more nervous than you. I watched you blossom into the most beautiful, courageous, smart young woman. You have taught me a few things too and I thank you for that. Always remember this, when you step over my door sill you have been raised. You know the difference between right and wrong, do right. Dont let anyone raise you. Become who you are meant to be. You will always have a special place in my heart. I love you.

My Craft Space

Its about time I share my craft space. It is in our bedroom, thank goodness the hubs is OK with it all. The hubs helped me create so much of this space too, turning the closet into a desk.

Its works for me.

This is the spool rack he made me this weekend.

My daughter made me this place mat last Mothers Day!

Some of my books and a little of the embroidery thread, the rest is hiding under the desk.

My sewing machine area another place mat from my other daughter.

My lovely large tote I am out growing with all my material.

This desk is a 1940s school teacher desk. I used it years ago passed it to my sisters boys (mistake). I got it back with some colorful language written all over it. My ever so talented husband worked on it and got it back to AWESOME! I love it so much.

Across from my desk is my growing pile of things for the craft show my sister and I are doing on the 3rd and 4th of next month.
Well I hope you enjoyed the tour.

On the menu tonight Taco salad.
What are you having?

Later peeps.
